Why you should switch to shampoo bars

An average person uses 10 bottles of shampoos every year. If there are four of you in the family so that equates to 40 bottles. There are 13,000 families in California alone. That’s a total of 520,000 bottles for California. Now, these plastic bottles will decompose roughly after 70 to 450 years. Imagine how many plastic bottles are present in California alone.

To be honest, I don’t want to imagine. It is so heartbreaking just computing and knowing that we have so much waste.

The good thing is that we now have shampoo bars. Not only shampoo bars but we also have conditioner bars!

You can now enjoy a guilt-free bath time with these shampoo and conditioner bars and here are 5 more reasons to start using shampoo bars and ditch the plastic bottles in your bathroom :

1. Good for your hair

Most shampoo bars are chemical-free, (I’m not saying all). They say that when you can’t figure out how to say an ingredient in your shampoo that means that it is a chemical and it is harmful. I think we already know how bad these chemicals are to our hair. The scary part is we might not see its effects now but we don’t know for sure in the future.

These chemicals can cause damage to the hair and scalp. The most common ingredient in shampoo is sulfate and too much use of this ingredient can result in dry hair and worse, baldness. You have to find a shampoo bar that is also chemical-free and sulfate-free. Perfect for any type of hair.

2. You’ll save money!

Did you know that one shampoo bar is equivalent to 3 bottled shampoos? Imagine the amount of money you’ll be able to save just by switching to a product that not only benefits you but also the world you live in? That is a win-win situation.

Shampoo bars are concentrated so when you use them you actually don’t have to put on a lot. The tricky part is that you have to store them properly because they are in bar form and water will dissolve its consistency.

You just have to place them on a dry towel after use or on a soap rack.

3. Comes in zero-waste packaging

Unbelievable that when you want to change something, people have already found the way for you. Pack & Leaf’s shampoo bars come in a tins. Yes. A reusable cute tin! I can already think of so many ways to reuse this tin, from spices and herbs in my kitchen to beads and snack containers.

My most favorite way to reuse them is this coming Christmas as they can make a good gift box.

Most of the packaging for shampoo bars is biodegradable or recyclable. It makes me think that these shampoo bars are really made to help us combat plastic pollution.

4. Enjoy the variety

Who says you don’t have options? You have options, you always have options. You just have to choose the correct one or rather the environmentally-friendly one.

Each hair type is different. Some hair is dry and some is oily. You should always pick depending on your hair needs. However, some hair types are unique, so you can see which bar works best for you.

Also, adding a conditioner to your hair-care routine is optional. You may need it, especially when you are on the beach or outdoors because the sun can dry out your hair.

5. Travel friendly

Are you tired of bringing the whole bottle of shampoo for your whole family when you travel? You don’t have to worry about spills anymore when you’re using shampoo bars. They don’t spill and they are small so you can carry them anywhere you wish to go.

So those are the reasons why you should switch to shampoo bars. I hope these reasons are enough for you to make a change in your daily routine. Always remember that it is better to start small than not at all.
